Colombo protest of situation which has arisen mosque in Dambulla

A demonstration was held in Colombo yesterday in protest of the situation which has arisen around a mosque in Dambulla.

 

The demonstration was organised by a Collective of Muslim Organizations. The demonstration was staged opposite the Dawatagaha Jumma mosque. 

Before the commencement of the demonstration afternoon Friday prayers were held.As a result of the demonstration traffic along the road opposite the mosque was hampered and vehicletraffic was directed to alternative roads. 

The demonstrators who conducted the demonstration for around thirty minutes later dispersed.

A protest of a similar nature was staged in Ampara, Akkaraipathuwa area in protest of the situation which arose around a mosque in Dambulla.

Several shops and business were also closed in Vavuniya and Trincomalee as a mark of protest. 

The religious activities continued at the mosque which has been the subject of recent attention
