'Sri Lanka X news' staff files FR case Rs.50 million as compensation

United National Party (UNP) MP Mangala Samaraweera today filed a fundamental rights violation petition in the Supreme Court challenging the raid on the “srilankaxnews.com” website and the arrest of its employees by the CID and sought Rs.50 million as compensation.

The proprietor and Chief Editor Kelum Shivantha Rodrigo and Sports Editors Randima Himashi Karunarathne and Tharindu Kaushalya, Weekend News Editor Chandima Shiranthani Manawaduge, journalist Rajatheva Mahotti Ajith and Office Assistant Weerakoon Premawathie also filed FR violation petitions.
They cited the OIC, CID Director, the Police Chief and the Attorney General as respondents
